Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Darius Vines was drafted three times. Coming out of high school, he was taken by the Houston Astros in the 32nd round of the 2016 amateur draft, then the Chicago Cubs picked him in the 27th round of the 2017 amateur draft after one year at Yavapai College, before the Atlanta Braves used their 7th round pick of the 2019 amateur draft to select him out of the California State University, Bakersfield. He was the highest draf pick in his school's history.

He made his major league debut with the Braves on August 30, 2023, starting against the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field. He gave up just 2 runs in 6 innings in a strong outing to earn his maiden major league win, 7-3.
