Biographical Information[edit]

Dan Puente played college ball at Bradley University and the Baltimore Orioles drafted him in the 12th round of the 2004 amateur draft. He played two years in their minor league system, mostly in rookie ball.

In 2008 the Chicago White Sox hired Puente as manager of their youth baseball initiatives to promote baseball among Chicago children. He stayed in this position into early 2012 before becoming an instructor at Elite Baseball Training. This is the facility owned by Justin Stone who later became the Chicago Cubs director of hitting, and where Rachel Folden worked as a hitting consultant.

In 2020 the Cubs hired Puente to be the South Bend Cubs hitting coach before the COVID-19 pandemic caused the minor league season to be cancelled. He was hitting coach of the Myrtle Beach Pelicans in 2021 and South Bend in 2022-2023. In 2024, he moved over to the Cleveland Guardians to serve as the major league team's assistant hitting coach.
