Biographical Information[edit]
Dan Leahy appeared in 2 games in the majors for the Philadelphia Phillies in 1896, hitting .333 and slugging .500. It was a good hitting performance that was perhaps marred by his performance in the field as a shortstop, where he made 2 errors, although his range was good. The Phillies used a variety of players at shortstop in 1896 and 1897, including Lave Cross. In 1898 they settled on Monte Cross, who had the job for several years.
The only other major league player named Leahy, Tom Leahy, broke into the majors in 1897, the year after Dan was there.
Dan died at the age of 33 in the town where he was born.
