Biographical Information

Dan Ewald was a sportswriter and author who wrote numerous books with and about Sparky Anderson, including Sparky! (1990), They Call Me Sparky (1998), Bless You Boys: Diary of the Detroit Tigers' 1984 Season (1984) and Sparky and Me (2013). He also authored or co-authored Hello Everybody, I'm George Kell (1998), John Fetzer on a Handshake: The Times and Triumphs of a Tiger Owner (1997), Six: a Salute to Al Kaline (2010) and The Detroit Tigers Encyclopedia (2002). He previously wrote for the The Detroit News and Grand Rapids Press and served as head of the Detroit Tigers public relations department.

He was a voting member of the Baseball Writers Association of America and a member of the Society for American Baseball Research.
