Biographical Information[edit]

Outfielder DJ Stewart was selected by the New York Yankees in the 28th round of the 2012 amateur draft but did not sign, attending Florida State University instead. He was then taken by the Baltimore Orioles in the first round of the 2015 amateur draft with the 25th overall pick. He made his pro debut that summer with the Aberdeen IronBirds, hitting .218 with 6 home runs in 62 games.

Stewart reached the majors with the Orioles late in the 2018 season when he hit .250 in 17 games. He was briefly with the Birds in late May and early June in 2019, hitting .167 in 7 games. After returning to the minors, he was called up again on August 6th, but in his first game back, he suffered a concussion as he dove for a fly ball in the 4th inning of a game against the Yankees but was unable to make the catch. Instead, the ball hit him on the head and he had to leave the game and was placed on the injured list.

Stewart's father, Reggie Stewart, played minor league ball for 5 years.
