Biographical information[edit]

Cy Leon Simonton, also known as Cy Simonton, played from 1994 to 1996 in the Seattle Mariners organization. He is the cousin of Benji Simonton and running back Ken Simonton. His uncle, Kenneth Simonton, played in 27 games for the Winter Haven Red Sox in 1975.

Simonton was originally drafted by the Mariners in the 19th round of the 1994 amateur draft. He began his career with the AZL Mariners that year, collecting 15-hits in 62 at-bats for a .242 batting average. He played for the Everett AquaSox in 1995, hitting .206 in 155 at-bats. He also played for the AquaSox in 1996, hitting .213 in 136 at-bats.

In three years of affiliated baseball, Simonton hit .215 in 353 at-bats, with one home run, 27 RBI and 13 stolen bases.

He then played for the Sonoma County Crushers of the independent Western Baseball League in 1997 and 1998, hitting .245 in 60 games in the former and .280 in 25 games in the latter.
