Biographical Information[edit]

Infielder Cy Block had several cups of coffee with the Chicago Cubs before and after serving in World War II. In 1951, he was one of a few minor leaguers who testified before the Celler Committee of Congress that was examining the antitrust provision granted to Major League Baseball about the working conditions of minor league players. Following his time in baseball, he became a very successful insurance salesman, eventually becoming the head of a multi-million dollar business.
