Biographical Information[edit]
Cory Vance was the USA junior national team ace in 1997. He was 4-1 with a staff-best 1.55 ERA. He struck out 44 in 29 innings while allowing just 16 hits. He lost the semifinals of the 1997 World Junior Championship to Cuba; the USA wound up with a Bronze. Fellow US southpaw Rick Ankiel made the All-Tournament Team as the top LHP. Vance was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers but opted for college.
