Biographical Information[edit]
Outfielder/pitcher Clyde Russell played in the minor leagues from 1900 to 1909. His statistical record is incomplete, however it is known that he hit .337 in 77 games for the Nashville Volunteers in 1904. On the mound, he was 18-17, 8-10 and 5-17 for Nashville from 1903 to 1905, respectively. He was 14-8 for the Columbia Gamecocks in 1906 and 0-2 for the Mattoon Giants in 1908. He was 45-54 overall.
He is listed as manager of the Florence Fiddlers in 1907, replacing Heisman and being replaced by Schmitz. He managed the Anderson Electricians for the latter part of that year, as well, replacing Emory Bagwell. He is listed as a manager of the Mattoon Giants in 1908.
His birth year has also been listed as 1878 and his birthplace as Hagerstown, MD (?).[1]
