Clemente Acosta peaked at AA.

Acosta debuted with the GCL Pirates in 1986, going 1-2 wit hfive saves and a 2.92 ERA. He had his best campaign for the 1987 Watertown Pirates, going 2-3 with 6 saves, 1.32 ERA and only 34 hits in 47 2/3 innings. He went 3-3 with four saves and a 3.86 ERA for the '88 Augusta Pirates. Back with the same club in 1989, he won five, lost five, saved one and had a 5.29 ERA.

Moving to the California Angels chain, Acosta became a starter and split 1990 between the Palm Springs Angels (10-10, 4.40) and Midland Angels (1-0, 1.50 in 2 G). He spent all of 1991 and 1992 in AA with Midland, but had little success. Pitching primarily in relief once again, he was 0-6 with a 7.28 ERA and 109 hits in 71 2/3 innings in 1991. In '92, he was 0-1 with 17 hits and 7 runs in 12 innings.

Overall, Acosta had gone 22-30 with 16 saves and a 4.46 ERA in 181 games (37 starts), with 557 hits and 163 walks in 474 2/3 IP; he struck out 340.
