Biographical Information[edit]
First baseman Clark Gillies played for the Covington Astros in the Houston Astros system from 1970 to 1972, beginning his professional career at 16 years old. In 1970, he hit .077/.077/.077 with 1 hit in 13 at-bats and in 1971, he hit .239/.294/.294 with no home runs, 11 RBI and 22 hits in 35 games. He hit .256/.308/.353 with 2 home runs, 20 RBI and 23 runs scored in 46 games in 1972 to finish his career, just 18 years old in his final season. He batted .241/.292/.318 with 2 home runs, 31 RBI and 63 hits in 86 games overall.
He was more famous as a hockey player, playing in the National Hockey League from 1974-1975 to 1987-1988. He was elected to the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2002.
