Most of Chuck Seelbach's major league innings were with the Detroit Tigers in 1972 when he had a 2.89 ERA in 112 innings. He had a 9-8 record with 14 saves, good for seventh in the American League. His teammates included Al Kaline and Norm Cash, both 37 at the time and the team won a division title. He pitched a couple of times in the ALCS against the Oakland Athletics, giving up 2 runs on 4 hits in one inning of work.

He later became a history teacher at his alma mater, University School in Hunting Valley, Ohio.

Both he and pitcher Pete Broberg were at Dartmouth College in 1970.
