Biographical Information[edit]

Christian Castorri played in the minor leagues from 2006 to 2009.

He was picked by the Minnesota Twins in the 34th round of the 2002 amateur draft, but he did not sign and went on to college. He was 7-3 with a 2.97 ERA as a college senior in 2006 but went undrafted. Signing with the independent Gateway Grizzlies, the Texas native was 3-4 with a save and a 4.89 ERA in 2006.

The Pittsburgh Pirates signed Castorri in February 2007. He split the year between the State College Spikes (1 R in 5 2/3 IP) and the Hickory Crawdads (5-2, 8 Sv, 1.93, .287 average). Only Serguey Linares had a better ERA with Hickory. In 2008, Christian was with the Lynchburg Hillcats (2-1, 2.28) and Altoona Curve (1-3, 2 Sv, 6.66, .323 opponent average).

Castorri was ineffective for the 2009 Lynchburg Hillcats (2-1, 7.20, 32 H, 19 BB in 20 IP) and 2009 Curve (1-1, 12 H, 3 BB, 10 R in 4 2/3 IP). He allowed a .383 average for the year.

He was 17-14 with a 5.36 ERA in 106 career games.
