Biographical Information

Christian Balcells was on the Mexican national team in the 1993 Intercontinental Cup. In his debut, he closed out a loss to Mexico, striking out both batters he faced (Jose Ramon Padilla and Jorge Talavera) after relieving Edmundo Gracia. He had a 3.97 ERA in a team-high five appearances, with no decisions; he trailed only Gracia in innings for Mexico. He tied Danny Graves, Osvaldo Fernandez and others for the Cup lead in games pitched.
