Chris Finwood

Chris Finwood has coached college baseball for over 20 years.

A shortstop in college, Finwood hit .300 for his career, including .399 as a senior. Chris was assistant coach at Virginia Military Institute (his alma mater) in 1989-1990, Radford University in the fall of 1990 and VMI again in 1991. From 1992-1994, he was MVI's head coach, winning a school record 21 games in '93 and '94. Finwood was assistant head coach and later associate head coach at Virginia Commonwealth University from 1995-2000.

Finwood next served as an assistant at Auburn University from 2001-2005. In 2006, he moved to Western Kentucky University as head coach. He improved the team from five Sun Belt Conference wins in 2006 to 15 in 2007. In 2008, they went 33-27 overall, then 42-20 (a school record for wins) in 2009. That year, he was named Sun Belt Conference Coach of the Year. After a 33-win season in 2011, he was hired as head coach of Old Dominion University.
