Biographical Information[edit]

Outfielder Chris Baker was taken 23rd overall in the 1979 amateur draft by the Detroit Tigers, one pick ahead of catcher Bob Geren. He spent four years in the minor leagues, peaking at Single A.

In 1981, he hit a career high .293/.363/.378 in 89 games for the Macon Peaches. He followed that with 12 home runs and 53 RBI in 116 games for the same club, though he hit only .221/.298/.356. Overall, he batted .247/.312/.352 in 275 games.
