Biographical Information

Pitcher Chitoji Maruo played in Nippon Professional Baseball in 1936, 1937 and 1943 for Hankyu. He began his career at 18 years old. He was 7-11 with a 3.85 ERA in 31 games (19 starts). In 163 2/3 innings, he allowed 128 hits and 111 walks, while striking out 75 batters. He hit .205/.258/.289 with one home run and 13 RBI in 83 at-bats.
