Chieh-Jui Wu has played in the CPBL and for the the Taiwanese national team at age-based levels. [1]
In the 2016 U-23 Baseball World Cup (listes as Po-Yi Wu), Wu was 16 for 30 with 6 RBI and hit a home run against Austria; he was second in the Cup in hits.[2] He was selected by the Uni-President Lions in the 4th round of the 2017 CPBL Draft. Wu collected his first career hit off Chih-Lung Yang on September 2 in his rookie year. He had a career year in 2018, as he batted .336/.395/.462 with 8 dingers. He was selected into the All-Star game and won his first Best Ten award this year as the league's top second baseman. Wu finished 5th in batting average, 9th in hits (120), and 8th in stolen bases (12). [3]
Due to shoulder injuries, Wu was limited to only 22 games in 2019, and he came back on the middle of the 2020 season and hit .321/.400/.419. Wu hit the clutch hit in Game 7 of 2020 Taiwan Series, helped the Lions won their 10th title. He was named Lions captain in 2021, and he hit .246/.333/.306 this year. He injured his shoulder again, and decided to retire on December 9, 2022. He coached the Lions in 2023.
Overall, Wu hit .307/.375/.404 with 269 hits in 6 seasons in the CPBL.
