Biographical Information[edit]
Chico Ruiz had two seasons in the majors with the Atlanta Braves. Both times he hit for a good average. He was originally signed by the Braves in 1969.
In 1978, he hit .283 in 46 at-bats, and in 1980, he hit .308 in 26 at-bats. He played third base, second base, and a little shortstop.
Nicknamed "Nolín", Chico was known by Puerto Rican Winter Baseball League fans as "Richmond's Mayor" for the quantity of years he played for the Richmond Braves. He was in Richmond from 1973 to 1981. In his best years there, he hit around .270. He also played in the minors for the Magic Valley Cowboys, Greenwood Braves, and Savannah Braves, with whom he spent three years.
