Aetnas of Chicago
(Redirected from Chicago Aetnas)
The Aetnas of Chicago were a Pre-MLB team that played in the National Association of Base Ball Players from 1867 to 1870. The club continued to play under independent status after the NA downsized to 9 teams and became professional in 1871. The team was previously known as the Chicago Atlantics and later the Chicago Franklins sometime after becoming independent. A Chicago Tribune article from August 9, 1867 says that the Aetnas beat the Atlantics 54 to 40 the previous day. Paddy Quinn and Jimmy Hallinan played for the Aetnas in 1870.
