Biographical Information

Chia-Yen Cheng pitched in the CPBL for 3 years.

Cheng was drafted by the CTBC Brothers in the 8th round of the 2017 CPBL Draft, and he had a 3.86 ERA in 14 games in the in 2018. He joined their bullpen in 2019, and he had a 4.86 ERA with 18 holds in 61 appearances. He was 2nd in games (4 behind Kai-Wen Cheng) and 3rd in holds (between Yi-Hao Lin) and K.W Cheng). Cheng pitched 2 innings with 2 runs allowed in the 2019 Taiwan Series, and the Lamigo Monkeys beat the Brothers in 5 games. However, the overuse ruined Cheng’s shoulder, and he pitched 14 games with a 2.25 ERA in 2020. Cheng only pitched 1 more game with the big club until he announced his retirement in 2022.

Overall, Cheng was 2-3 with a 4.37 ERA ,pitched 45 1/3 innings and struck out 33 in 3 seasons in the CPBL.
