Biographical Information[edit]

Chia-Ming Cheng pitched in the CPBL for 2 years.

Cheng represented Taiwan in the 2009 World Youth Championship, hitting .200/.333/.357 with six RBI in six games, fielding .957. He was drafted by the Lamigo Monkeys in the 7th round of the 2016 CPBL Draft, and he had a 1.93 ERA in 8 games in the minors in his first year. He also pitched 6 games with the big club, and he surrendered 11 runs. Cheng pitched 3 1/3 innings in 2017, but he underwent Tommy John surgery after that season. The Monkeys then released him, and he announced his retirement.

Cheng’s repertoire included a fastball (peak 87.6 mph) curveball and changeup.

Overall, Cheng was 0-0 with a 8.38 ERA, pitched 9 2/3 innings and struck out 9 in 2 seasons in the CPBL.
