Biographical Information[edit]

Chia-Jung Liang played in the CPBL.

Liang represented Taiwan in the 2013 World Junior Championship. He hit only .207 with one walk and three doubles in eight games, but drove in ten! Only Tomoya Mori and Tyler O'Neill had more RBI. He was drafted by the Lamigo Monkeys in the first round of the 2013 CPBL Draft, but he spent his first four seasons primarily in the minor leagues, and only played 96 games combined with the big club. He won the batting title in 2014 with a .393/.453/.513 batting line, but only got 14 appearances in the CPBL majors. Liang hit .268/.336/.418 in 2017, sharing the starting third baseman spot with Chih-Ping Lin and playing 82 games. However, when Li Lin shined in 2018, Liang was demoted back to the minor leagues again. He only played 138 games combined with the big club in the next three seasons.

The Taipei native finally broke out in 2021. He hit .287/.362/.394 with 4 homers, then recorded a .286/.395/.349 batting line in 2022. He was 1-for-8 in the 2022 Taiwan Series, and the Monkeys were swept by the CTBC Brothers. Liang had his career year to that point in 2023, hitting .338/.400/.507 and won the CPBL batting title. He was the second player to win the batting title in both the minor league and the major league, following Cheng-Wei Chang in 2011. He also ranked 3rd in OBP (.013 behind Chieh-Hsien Chen), 3rd in slugging (.019 behind Kungkuan Giljegiljaw), 7th in hits (18 behind Chi-Hung Liu) and 8th in RBI (29 behind Chien-Fu Liao). Liang won his first Best Ten as a third baseman. He only hit .200/.219/.267 in the 2023 Taiwan Series, and the Monkeys lost to the Wei-Chuan Dragons in 7 games.
