Biographical Information[edit]

Relief pitcher Chase Christianson was taken by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 8th round of the 2006 amateur draft, ahead of future All-Star Dellin Betances. He was signed by scout Mike Valarezo and began his professional career that year. Peaking at Double-A, he went 12-20 with a 5.34 ERA in 131 games (27 starts) over four seasons. In 305 1/3 innings, he allowed 368 hits and 119 walks, while striking out 221 batters. He never posted a winning record and his ERA rose each season, from 3.81 his first to 6.01 his last. His final campaign was 2009.
