Biographical Information[edit]
Charlie Uhlir is, through 2019, one of six big leaguers whose last name starts "Uh". Charlie was in 14 games with the Chicago White Sox in 1934, pinch-hitting, playing left field, and one time pinch-running. He had recently turned 22, and the guy he was hoping to replace in left field was Hall of Famer Al Simmons.
A post at a genealogy site [1] states that Uhlir lived in Estherville, IA in "the late 50's and 60's", and would talk to kids about how to play baseball. He worked for John Morrell & Co.
