Charles Lupo
Biographical Information[edit]
Charlie Lupo served as a replacement umpire when the regular umpires were on strike in both 1978 and 1979. For the one-day strike on August 25, 1978, he was the third base umpire for a game between the Philadelphia Phillies and the Los Angeles Dodgers at Dodger Stadium. He was then a busy man at the start of the 1979 season, working a total of 34 games - 18 American League games at Anaheim Stadium and 14 National League games at Dodger Stadium., making him one of the busiest replacement umpires who were hired during that conflict. He spent over 35 years umpiring at the collegiate level.
