Charlie Long has been a college coach.
Long hit .371 as a second baseman at Mount Olive College, then became a graduate assistant at Campbell University in 1989. In 1991, he came to North Carolina Wesleyan College as assistant baseball coach as well as womens' volleyball coach. He was promoted to head baseball coach in 1999. He took the school to the 1999 Division III College World Series and 2006 Division III College World Series. He stepped down as baseball coach following the 2018 season but remained with the college as assistant athletic director.
Long became head coach at William Peace University in 2022.
