Biographical Information[edit]

Charlie Hodes played three seasons in the National Association, mostly as a catcher and outfielder.

In 1869, Hodes was left fielder for the Brooklyn Eckfords, who went 15-8. He moved to the Chicago White Stockings in 1870 and was the catcher for the club in 1871, when they finished second in the inaugural season of the National Association. He played for the Troy Haymakers in 1872 and the Brooklyn Atlantics in 1874. He also worked a few games as an umpire during the 1874 National Association season.

Hodes died dutring the off-season between 1874 and 1875, following some sort of illness.
