Biographical Information[edit]

Charlie Frank was with the St. Louis Browns in the last part of the 1893 and the first part of 1894, playing left field when Tommy Dowd wasn't in the lineup. Frank hit .335 with 8 stolen bases in 40 games in 1893, but then slipped to .279 with 13 stolen bases in 77 games in 1894, which was a big hitters' year. The National League as a whole hit .309 in 1894.

Frank was able to draw 62 walks in his 120 major league games, so his on-base percentage was a good .384.

He also played for the Toledo Mud Hens in 1894.

He later managed the 1901-1903 Memphis Egyptians, 1904-1913 New Orleans Pelicans and 1916-1919 and 1921 Atlanta Crackers.
