Biographical Information[edit]
Outfielder/first baseman Charley Trippi hit .334/.414/.451 with 3 home runs, 42 RBI and 10 triples in 106 games for the Atlanta Crackers in his only year of pro ball, 1947. He was more famous in football circles, playing for the Chicago Cardinals of the National Football League from 1947 to 1955. He was elected to the College Football Hall of Fame in 1959 and the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1968.
He served in World War II from 1943 to 1945. He served as University of Georgia baseball coach in 1948 and 1949.
