Biographical Information

Charles Wilcox played four years in the minor leagues.

He debuted in 1948 for the Hammond Berries (.276, 6 HR, 61 RBI). In 1949, Wilcox was back with the Berries and batted .294 with 5 HR and 65 RBI. He moved to the Anderson Rebels in 1950 and hit .250/~.350/.361 with 79 runs, 15 steals and 74 walks. He was second among Tri-State League outfielders in both poutouts (352) and assists (22) and led league outfielders with six double plays.

Wilcox batted .191 with 5 RBI for Anderson in 1951 and .237 with 4 HR and 23 RBI for the Baton Rouge Red Sticks. He then left to join the Army early in 1952. Later that same year, he was killed in combat in the Korean War.
