Biographical Information[edit]

Charles Varnak attended Waynesburg College, where he played basketball. Following graduation, he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. After the war, he spent one summer playing in the Brooklyn Dodgers organization.

In 1947, Varnak was accepted as a candidate for the brotherhood in the Congregation of Holy Cross and spent the rest of his days in religious life. For many years he was a teacher and athletic director at schools in New York, Massachusetts, and Ohio.
