Biographical Information[edit]
Charles Teague was named All-American in 1947, 1949 and 1950 as a second baseman at Wake Forest University. A number of sources claim that he was named Most Outstanding Player of the 1949 College World Series, but the Series' official site contradicts this. He served in the Navy during World War II, thus delaying his entry into college.
He played in the Chicago Cubs organization from 1950 to 1954, mainly with the Des Moines Bruins of the Western League. He was a player/manager with the Hickory Rebels in 1954 and coached Wake Forest in 1956. His obituary claims that his playing career was ended by a broken leg. He later opened a sporting goods business in Greensboro, NC. In 2010, he made the College Baseball Hall of Fame.
