Biographical information[edit]
Charles Spink bought The Sporting News in St. Louis, MO from the founder, his brother Al Spink. He was a fabulous owner/editor, and ran it from 1895, to his death on April 22, 1914, passing it on to his son, J.G. Taylor Spink.
He was the brother of Al Spink; father of J.G. Taylor Spink, grandfather of C.C. Johnson Spink and uncle of Ernest Lanigan.
