Biographical Information[edit]
Charles Johnston was an American League umpire in 1936 and 1937. He began his professional umpiring career in 1923 in the Texas Association and also worked in the East Texas League, the Western League and the American Association before reaching the majors. After being dismissed by the A.L., he went back to the American Association in 1938 and was in the Eastern League from 1939 to 1941.
He worked as an insurance salesman during the off-season and also worked football and basketball games as a referee.
