Biographical Information[edit]

Charles E. Humphrey spent most of his career in the minors. Clark Griffith, owner of the Washington Senators, purchased his contract from the Norfolk Tars of the Virginia League in 1916; the Washington Herald said in its March 16, 1916 edition that he "appears to have the goods. This is his first trip to the big show, but he is confident of making good". Humphrey didn't have the goods, as he went back to the Minors in 1917, without having appeared in a game for the Senators. He played AA ball with the Minneapolis Millers until 1919, then spent the rest of his time in the northeast, playing with various clubs until 1925.
