Biographical Information[edit]

Charlie Haygood pitched in the minor leagues from 1962 to 1964. In his first campaign, spent with the Thomasville Tigers in the Detroit Tigers system, Haygood went 14-6 with 15 complete games and a 2.08 ERA in 26 games (22 starts), to lead the Georgia-Florida League in wins and earned run average. Joining the St. Louis Cardinals chain for 1963 and 1964, Haygood went 11-10 with a 3.23 ERA in 30 games (23 starts) the former year and 3-7 with a 3.22 mark in 50 games (one start) the latter. Overall, he was 28-23 with a 2.76 ERA in 106 games (46 starts).

After baseball, he spent 18 years with the Macon Bibb County Fire Department, reaching the rank of Captain.
