Biographical Information[edit]
Pitcher Charles Fanning was given a trial by the St. Louis Browns during spring training in 1911 but was returned to the Galesburg Pavers, per the 5/1/1911 Keokuk Daily Gate City. His brother, Clyde Fanning, played briefly in the minors in the 1910s.
His nickname was Skeeter, per the 10/31/1915 San Francisco Examiner. He pitched two no-hitters in the Pacific Coast League: the first was on October 25, 1914 for the San Francisco Seals against the Portland Beavers, and the second also for San Francisco on June 23, 1916 against the Vernon Tigers.
