Biographical Information

Charles De Bost was a catcher for the New York Knickerbockers from 1845 to 1859. De Bost was regarded as one of if not the best catcher of the 1840s. He apparently left baseball in 1847 but returned in 1850 with the team. A letter written to De Bost by Alexander Cartwright in 1865 was apparently stolen from the Hawaii State Archives.
