Cees Hiele
Biographical Information[edit]
Cees Hiele served in the Dutch military at DOS as a weatherman with Air Force Base Gilze-Rijen; he was on a baseball team formed by flyers from an American squadron. He then joined UVV as a catcher. He was with the Dutch national team in the 1960 European Championship. He retired as a player in 1964 and coached youth baseball. He also coached for UVV. In 2000, he received a Royal Decoration. His number 2 was retired in 2011. He died the day after former teammate Jan Kars.
