Category talk:Batting Champs

From BR Bullpen

What is the purpose of this category? Other seasonal leaders, home run champs, win champs, etc. do not have their own categories. These could be replaced and added by succession boxes somewhat like what was done at wikipedia with the title linking to List of Major League Baseball [stat] season leaders. --MichaelEng (talk) 15:01, 18 May 2007 (EDT)

Ack. Those succession boxes just seem awkward and ugly to me. I prefer having it in category format. I see no problem with adding categories for other seasonal leaders. - --Mischa 20:56, 20 May 2007 (EDT)

In what way are they awkward? Is it how they display or is it the syntax? I think of succession boxes as half-way between categories (which is just a relation and groups) and a list (which provides information and usually has some structure such as chronology). --MichaelEng (talk) 16:37, 15 June 2007 (EDT)

I think the succession boxes are okay .... except when they start piling up on a page. When there's more than two or three, or when there's two different boxes (i.e. manager and general manager) on the same page, the page kinda gets muddied up. --Jeff 16:47, 15 June 2007 (EDT)

The display is my concern as they get awfully cluttered as in the wikipedia example with Lajoie. Categories seem less distracting and more elegant in a sense. My problem is more aesthetics than functionality. - --Mischa 17:08, 15 June 2007 (EDT)
