Biographical Information[edit]

Second baseman Carlton Fleming played in the New York Yankees minor league system from 1992 to 1996. He was taken in the 7th round of the 1992 amateur draft. Devoid of power, he went 1,625 career at-bats and 1,889 plate appearances without a home run, while managing just 45 doubles and seven triples. He reached Triple A for the first and only time in 1995.

He hit for decent averages, however, batting .324, .299, .243, .321 and .301 in his five seasons, respectively. He stole 21 bases in 1993 and 20 in 1994, averaging about 11 per year for his career. Blessed with a good eye at the plate, he walked 32 time to 22 strikeouts in 1992, 80 times to 23 Ks in 1993, 52 times to 37 Ks in 1994, 20 times to 16 Ks in 1995 and 41 times to 14 Ks in 1996. He averaged one strikeout every 13.2 at-bats and didn't even strikeout 100 times in his career. He had multiple seasons with a .400-plus on-base percentage.

Overall, he hit .287/.375/.323 in his five-year career, the last bit of which was spent in independent baseball.
