Biographical Information[edit]

Carlos Manriquez was an outfielder for the Mexican national team in the 1991 Intercontinental Cup and 1991 Pan American Games. He hit .425/.452/.725 with 4 doubles, a triple, 2 homers, 9 runs and 17 RBI in 9 games in the 1991 Intercontinental Cup, fielding .969 in CF. He had 3 of Mexico's five game-winning RBI and was clearly their top hitter. For the event, he was 4th in average (between Shinichi Sato and Sung-bo Shim), tied for 4th in home runs, tied Chen-Hsien Chang for the most hits (17), was 3rd in slugging (after Sato and Luis Casanova) and easily led in RBI (5 ahead of Prospero Baca, Casanova and Wei-Chen Chen). He joined Sato and José Estrada as the Cup's All-Star outfielders.

Manriquez was not as successful as a pro, going 0 for 4 with three whiffs in two games for the 1992 Monterrey Sultans.
