Biographical Information[edit]
Carlos Loreto pitched for the Venezuelan national team and in the minors.
He was 1-0 with a 4.11 ERA in the 1954 Central American and Caribbean Games, finishing 7th in ERA (between Róger Bolaños and Román Ramos). He beat the Dominican Republic's Luis Gutiérrez. Venezuela won its first baseball Gold in a Central American and Caribbean Games. [1] He also won Bronze in the 1955 Pan American Games.
Turning pro, he was 8-9 with a 3.12 ERA for the Paris Orioles and pitched one game for the Thetford Mines Miners. He led the Sooner State League in games pitched with 50, six ahead of runner-up Ronald Laumann. It would be his lone season in the US, though.
