Biographical Information[edit]
Carlos Gálvez was a Cuban Serie Nacional pitcher who, pitching for Centrales, led the league in innings pitched (115.0), games started (15) and hits allowed (91) in 1965-1966. He was the winning pitcher in the 1966-1967 All-Star Game. In 1967-1968, with Las Villas, he tied Walfrido Ruiz for the league lead in starts (26) and Santiago Mederos for the lead in shutouts (8). That is also the all-time record for shutouts in a season. He spent eight seasons in Cuba, going 47-37 with four saves, a 2.48 ERA and .225 opponent average in 159 games (104 starts) during a pitcher's era.
