Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Carlos Frias made his major league debut with the Los Angeles Dodgers late in the 2014 season, going 1-1 with a 6.12 ERA in 15 games, including 2 starts. He had signed with the Dodgers as an amateur free agent on January 3, 2007, when he was still only 17.

In 2015, injuries to a number of projected starters pushed the Dodgers to give the ball to Frias and he did well in his first few outings, with a 3-1 record and a 2,55 ERA after 6 games, of which 4 were starts. On May 24th, he was roughed up by the San Diego Padres, however, as he allowed a grand slam to Justin Upton before he had recorded a single out, and left after allowing the first two batters to reach in the 5th, having given up 10 runs on 12 hits. The 10 runs allowed tied for the most given up by a Dodgers starter since the team's move to Los Angeles in 1958 and his ERA jumped all the way to 5.34 as a result.
