Biographical Information[edit]

Carl Dale pitched in the majors in 1999. He was the first player to come to the majors from Winthrop University; Kevin Slowey became the second eight years later.

Drafted in the second round in 1994, Dale was mostly a starting pitcher in the minors, primarily with the St. Louis Cardinals and Oakland Athletics organizations. After being traded by the A's organization to the Milwaukee Brewers, Dale came up in September 1999 for four games. He was four years younger than the two big stars of the team, Hideo Nomo and Jeromy Burnitz.
