He graduated from the latter in 2011 and soon began his coaching career there as a student assistant coach. After leaving Trevecca Longshore was the head coach for one season at Susan Moore High School in Blountsville, AL. From there he moved to the college coaching ranks.

Longshore spent the 2014 season at NAIA power Oklahoma Wesleyan University where he helped the Eagles to a 58-8 record. Oklahoma Wesleyan reached the 2014 NAIA College World Series and finished in third place. The OKWU pitching staff was instrumental in the team's run to the World Series as Longshore's pitchers registered a 2.91 ERA which ranked 12th in all of NAIA. This success led to the next rung on the college coaching ladder, a one-year stint at California Baptist University which played at the NCAA Division II level. The Lancers went 31-22 in 2015 and finished second in the Pacific West Conference with a 22-10 mark. The team also qualified for the NCAA Division II tournament as the No. 3 seed in the West Region and went 1-2 in regional play. The Lancers' pitching staff posted the second-best ERA in the PacWest with a 3.51 mark under Longshore's leadership and also tossed eight complete games. CBU as a staff accumulated 449 strikeouts to only 144 walks during the season and held opposing hitters to a .254 batting average.

Longshore ascended to NCAA Division I baseball in 2016-2017 as the pitching coach for the Arkansas State University Red Wolves. The 2017 season saw the Red Wolves tally a 28-27 record for the team's first winning season since 2014. Longshore's pitching staff registered a 5.28 ERA and had 462 strikeouts for the second most in school history. Longshore next moved to Middle Tennessee State University and coached Blue Raiders' pitchers during the 2018 season. Throughout his college career Longshore helped to develop many impressive arms, including MTSU’s All-Conference USA hurler Jake Wyrick. Following his one season at MTSU, Longshore joined the Belmont University Bruins and coached pitchers there from 2019-2021. In these three years a number of his pitchers earned Ohio Valley Conference honors.

Longshore left college ball in 2022 when the Cleveland Guardians hired him to coach pitchers on the Lake County Captains. In 2023 the Guardians promoted him to minor league pitching coordinator.
