Biographical Information[edit]
Moses Calhoun "Cal" Vasbinder pitched for the 1902 Cleveland Bronchos. He also spent part of 1902 with Columbus.
Vasbinder was born, and died, in Eastern Ohio. His birthplace, Scio, OH, and his place of death, Cadiz, OH, are only a few miles from each other. In 1901 he was referred to as the "Cadiz, O. amateur wonder", so presumably at that point he already lived in Cadiz and played ball there.
Sporting Life in 1909 carried news of a mining accident in which Cal's legs were so "cut and torn" that the paper felt he would never play ball again. He was a minor league umpire in 1909.
When he died, his death certificate listed his occupation as "live stock dealer".
He was occasionally called Cy Vasbinder.
