Biographical Information[edit]
Buzz Bowers pitched in the Philadelphia Phillies system from 1950 to 1954 and from 1956 to 1957. He spent four years with the Single-A Schenectady Blue Jays, going 42-30 with them. He was 54-44 in 239 games overall; he won 10-plus games four times in seven seasons.
He later scouted for the Phillies, Los Angeles Dodgers and Boston Red Sox. He signed, among others, Matt Kinney, Steve Lomasney, Ron Mahay, Lou Merloni, Greg Montalbano, Carl Pavano and Brian Rose. He won the A.B. "Turk" Karam Award in 2003 and was elected to the Cape Cod League Hall of Fame in 2020.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
